Kiln Access & Bookings
Kiln access is available to Manor Farm Pottery members only.
All work submitted for firing must include a completed firing form.
Due to demand, firing times typically range between 6–8 weeks, particularly during busy periods.
Larger work, unusual shapes, or higher volumes may take longer.
If you are working to a deadline, please discuss this with the team in advance — we will always try to help where possible, but firing schedules cannot be guaranteed.
Full Kiln Hire (Private Firing)
Bisque: £70
Glaze: £80
Communal Kiln Firings
Bisque (1000°C): 70p per litre cubed
Glaze (1070°C): £1.00 per litre cubed
Please note: We are unable to accommodate alternative firing temperatures in standard communal firings.
Health, Safety & Cleanliness (Essential Rules)
Safety is a top priority in our shared studio:
No dry sanding inside the studio – wet sanding only or outside.
Mop, don’t sweep – dry clay dust must never be brushed.
Work areas, tools, wheels and surrounding floors must be fully cleaned after each session.
No outside clay unless approved for kiln compatibility.
PPE is recommended where appropriate.
All staff instructions must be followed at all times.
Studio Access & Usage
Access is during set open studio hours (not 24/7).
Membership is for personal creative practice only — production-scale making is not permitted without agreement.
Tools and materials must be stored only on your allocated personal shelf.
Unlabelled items may be removed after a notice period.
Kilns, Storage & Finished Work
All bisqueware and glaze ware must be clearly labelled.
Fired work must be collected within 3 months.
Uncollected work may be disposed of after this period due to limited space.
