Studio Closure

If the studio must close due to events beyond our control (severe weather, force majeure, infectious disease), refunds are not offered. Sessions will be rescheduled wherever possible.

Changes by the Studio

Manor Farm Pottery may amend class content, teacher, timing or venue when necessary.
If a class is cancelled due to insufficient bookings, attendees may choose a full refund or rescheduled place.
We are not liable for associated costs (travel, accommodation, etc.).

Late Attendance

Admission of late arrivals is at the teacher’s discretion.
Late refusal will be treated as a late cancellation.

3. Studio Etiquette

Mobile Phones

Phones must be switched off or set to silent.
If you must take a call, please step outside the teaching area.

Arrivals

The studio opens only a few minutes before each session.
Please do not arrive early as we may be preparing, cleaning, or in meetings.

Prolific Makers

This is a teaching studio, not a production studio. Excessive use of clay may incur an additional cost to cover wastage.
Students must not bring externally made work for firing, as this delays the firing schedule for class-made work.

4. Collecting Finished Work

Please collect finished pieces promptly.
Work not collected within 3 months of firing may be disposed of due to limited storage.

Work can be posted for a basic packaging and postage fee; however, we cannot accept liability for damage in transit.

5. Health & Safety Policy

Students use the studio at their own risk and must follow all staff instructions. Pottery studios contain inherent hazards including:

  • sharp tools and edges

  • oxides and mineral-based materials

  • high-temperature equipment

  • wet floors

  • silica dust and respiratory risks

Safe Working Requirements

Students must:

  • avoid spray or bubble application of slips, oxides or glazes

  • use only clay provided by Manor Farm Pottery

  • keep personal workspaces clean using wet cleaning only

  • clean floors, tables, wheels and tools before leaving

  • never pour clay, glaze or sediment into sinks

  • avoid the kiln area (students may not operate kilns)

Fire Safety

  • Fire exits must always remain clear.

  • In the event of a fire, follow staff directions and leave via the nearest exit.

Smoking & Vaping

Strictly prohibited inside the studio and surrounding work areas.

Pets

No pets allowed except trained assistance dogs.

Breakages & Technical Failure

Ceramics is an unpredictable process.
We cannot accept liability for breakages, firing faults, cracking or technical failure, even when handled by experienced staff.

6. Studio Clean-Up Policy

The final 15 minutes of each class are dedicated to cleaning.
Participants must leave their areas cleaner than they found them.

If you don’t have time to clean up, you don’t have time to finish the work.

7. Environment & Waste Management

We aim to operate as a low-waste studio.
All materials are recycled wherever possible.

Please use the correct bins and follow staff guidance on disposal.
